Best Friends

Saturday, July 31, 2010

Every night Ethan wants me to make up a story for him, and it usually goes something like this "Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Ethan.  He has a baby brother named NOLAN (he exclaims) and  kitty cat named MAX (he yells).  Ethan and Nolan and Max were BEST FRIENDS!  This is Ethan and Max.

Backyard Exploring

Friday, July 30, 2010

Okay, seriously, I just can't get over how cute he is.  That little face, that messy hair, the overalls.  Such a boy.  And so darn cute.  I was pretty happy with most of these pictures.

Me & my big boy

Monday, July 19, 2010

I bribed Ethan with Pez candy in order for me to take pictures of him.  Most of them didn't come out (too late for the good lighting), but I still think this one is cute.

Rise and Shine

Saturday, July 17, 2010

I decided to get up when Chris left for work this morning, assuming my boys would soon follow, and at least I could get a cup of coffee in me first.  My boys slept in for like, the first time ever.  Figures.  So I spent my time practicing silhouettes and photographing the sunrise.  I didn't get any fantastic images, this is probably my best one, but, it was relaxing, and I got to drink my coffee before it got cold.

Fun at TT's

Thursday, July 15, 2010

We went to TT's to celebrate her birthday, and I caught these cute pictures of my boys out in her beautiful yard.

I wish I had not angled the camera so much on this one!

And here's my other little bub having fun catching bubbles.

Hi, there.

Monday, July 12, 2010

I was outside collecting rocks with Ethan when we spotted this dragonfly.  It would land on a tip of the hydrangea bush (which isn't doing so well after being transplanted) and look at us.  I learned two things, dragonflies can turn and nod their heads, and open and close their mouths.  It honestly looked like it was sitting there talking to us.  If only we could hear.

So sad!

Sunday, July 11, 2010

I really contemplated posting these pictures, for fear that you might be wondering what the heck I was doing photographing instead of consoling.  He really was fine, and I'm going to miss these little faces someday.  I  am a good mom, I'm just trying to be a good photographer, too ;)

Saturday, July 10, 2010

Ethan agreed to come outside and let me take pictures of him as long as we could play afterwards.  We ended up playing during (funny how that happens!), but we still got a couple good shots.  I love the rock wall in this first one, but I wish he was smiling.  The one he was smiling in, was out of focus.  Darn it!

I wish I hadn't chopped off his fingers and toes in these two, but they're not that bad considering I had to give him a push and then run ahead of him, check my settings, and shoot!

Turkey Feathers

We have wild turkeys coming through our  yard on a daily basis.  Lately, they're dropping a lot of feathers, and Ethan gets excited every time he finds one.

Hello in there!

Thursday, July 8, 2010

I just love this one of Ethan.  He was laying on our coffee table and looking right up into my lens.  I wonder if he'll come to forget that behind that camera, Mommy actually has a face!

Don't be fooled!

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

Wow, this all looks so professional!  But, don't be fooled!  I'm just a mom with a camera, or what I hear real photographers refer to as MWACs.  I decided to start a blog to get some input and feedback, be it praise or constructive criticism, my goal is to learn. I've added posts with my favorite pictures that I've taken since receiving my Canon Rebel xsi as a gift from my hubbs. I've taken a few private lessons, read books and watched online tutorials, and this is where my camera has taken me so far. I'm proud of these images I've created, but there is far more for me to learn, which is why I'm "here". So, I guess this is where my blogging life begins!

This is probably the first good manual exposure I have created, I read a tutorial that made it a lot easier for me to understand, so I was pretty excited!  Usually I shoot in AV (aperture priority) mode.

Sean's Car

Saturday, July 3, 2010

I was outside playing with Ethan when I heard our neighbor, and friend, start up his baby. Well, his other baby anyway. Having seen some cool shots of chrome at my photography club meetings, I couldn't resist and we ran over with the camera. I like the potential of these... but have requested a do-over to see if I can do better!
