Sweet Baby Kay | Chelmsford, MA Newborn Photographer

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

The only thing better than photographing a newborn baby girl, is photographing your best friend's newborn baby girl! Kristie and I have been friends since kindergarten.  We've been in each other's weddings and now share the joy of seeing our kids grow up and play together as we did (they even have a little headstart!)  You wouldn't believe that these belly pics were taken just a few days before Baby Kaydence was born!  Kristie thought she had a big belly. But she forgets that I was this big at 6 months. Not exaggerating. She herself once dubbed my uterus a "double-decker" LOL! We had so much fun. I loved spending the day, cuddling with Kay, and talking mommy-talk with Kristie.  Oh, getting waited on by Dad wasn't so bad, either ;) Stay tuned for pictures of Baby Kaydence with her big brother, too :)

The Bedard Family {Lowell, MA Family Photographer}

This was one of my most fun shoots so far.  But it didn't start off that way. It starts like this.  I pull up to the location, only to find about 5 pine trees down littering the otherwise lovely location, thank you, Hurricane Irene.  There are some people strewn about playing guitars and singing (actually was kind of nice while I surveyed the area and waited), then another photographer comes along and begins setting up a backdrop stand preparing for a shoot that somehow involved a live fish, and I'm beginning to wonder if there is some scheduled event I should have been aware of.  There wasn't.  But what happens next - oy.  A caravan, I kid you not, at least 6 or 8 cars pull up, and before they are even parked this is what I hear "Woof-woof! Yip-Yip! Argghh! Arggh! Awhoo! Awhoo!!" Apparently, there was some sort of dog club meeting.  Seriously?  Unfortunately so.  The first 15 mintues of our shoot, we were accompanied by a one-eyed pug toting around the most slobbery tennis ball EVER. Yes.  I found out the hard way.  Luckily, this session was with a very dear friend of mine, and she and her family are totally laid back, with the best sense of humor you could imagine.  We did not stop laughing.  And while I was editing the session, I was laughing all over again at some of the shots we got! Enjoy! :)

And here are a few that had me laughing all over again!

Funny guy - said he needed a new Facebook profile pic!

Wondering what to wear for your fall family session?

Friday, September 16, 2011

So, you have a photo session coming up and you can't figure out what to dress your gang in?  I am always asked about what to wear for photos. I like to suggest wearing individual outfits with colors on the same palette.  I also think it's important to be comfortable and feel like "yourself" (just a little spiffier than your day-to-day wear).  I want to capture the personality of you and  your family, and I need you to feel cozy in order to do that :) That being said, I love these colors and outfits for fall!

The Baker Family {Chelmsford, MA Family Photographer}

Let me start by saying - most laid back family, ever.  In a good (fantastic!) way.  Our initial attempt at a shoot got rescheduled due to rain.  No problem! We rescheduled a few weeks out and less than 2 hours before we switched locations (bad traffic report - beach on Labor Day weekend was probably not my finest idea) again, no problem! They showed up all relaxed and happy and beautiful and I knew we were gonna have a fun shoot. They started to worry that their handsome boy was not cooperating... but I will disagree with them up and down the block about that one ;) He was awesome, the whole lot of 'em were, and I love so many images from our session that I had a hard time narrowing down what to share here (obviously!).  Thank you Baker Family!! Ya'll come back now, ya hear!? :)

Kendall {Newburyport, MA baby photographer}

Okay, seriously, how cute is she?  I'm so happy I get to photograph little girls, the dresses, bows, headbands.  I love it all.  When discussing locations, Kendall's mama told me she had a sailor outfit, so I knew we had to get this little beauty on the beach. We had a beautiful night, and Kendall was such a trooper, out on the beach until her bedtime, until finally her sleepiness (and the gnats! oy!) took over.  I love this little family and I loved this session.  I hope you guys love the results! :)
